Wrong Terminal at Incheon Airport? T1–T2 Transfer Guide

If you are at the wrong terminal at Incheon Airport, first confirm your operating flight and whether you are still in the public area. Before departure security, you can transfer between Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2) by free airport shuttle or paid Airport Railroad.

Quick directions: From T1, take AIRPORT 04 outside Exit/Gate 8 on the third floor. From T2, take AIRPORT 03 outside Exit/Gate 7 on the third floor. These are terminal exit doors on the departures level, not aircraft boarding gates.

Already past security or connecting internationally? Ask airport or airline staff for the correct route before moving. The public shuttle instructions below do not describe the secure transit route.

Official airport and airline guidance reviewed on October 16, 2026. Confirm the current departure terminal, stop timetable and fare before traveling.

Check Your Flight and Remaining Time First

Open your booking or airline app and check the flight number, date and operating airline. A codeshare ticket may display the airline that sold the ticket rather than the airline operating the aircraft.

  1. Confirm your actual departure terminal. Use the current flight information and ask airline staff if your booking and airport information disagree.
  2. Check your location. Identify T1 or T2 and whether you are before or after departure security.
  3. Check the next deadline. You may still need airline check-in, document verification, baggage drop or boarding.

If time is short, contact the airline while arranging your transfer. Ask: “I am at the other terminal. Is check-in or bag drop still open for my flight, and where should I go when I arrive?”

If You Have Already Checked In Online

Keep your boarding pass accessible, but check whether the airline still requires an in-person document check or baggage drop. Online check-in does not remove the need to complete security, departure immigration and boarding on time.

Before dropping off your suitcase, make sure you have removed all power banks. If you have already checked in a bag containing a power bank, see our Incheon Airport power bank in checked luggage guide for the steps to take immediately.

If Check-In Is Closing or Has Closed

Ask the airline whether it can still accept you and any checked luggage. If the deadline has passed, ask about the next available flight and the change or no-show conditions that apply to your ticket.

There is no reliable universal answer to “Can I still make it?” Your remaining procedures, airline deadlines, queues and transfer time all matter. Reaching the correct terminal does not mean a missed deadline will be waived.

Free Shuttle Directions: T1 to T2 and T2 to T1

Choose the route for your direction of travel. Other airport shuttles serve parking areas and airport facilities, so check the destination before boarding.

DirectionFree shuttleBoarding pointPublished interval and hours
T1 to T2AIRPORT 04T1, third floor, outside Exit/Gate 810–20 minutes; 04:30–23:20
T2 to T1AIRPORT 03T2, third floor, outside Exit/Gate 77–20 minutes; 04:30–23:35

All times are local Korea time. The published hours describe each route’s operating window; they are not the exact first and last departures from every stop. Check the stop-specific timetable, particularly early in the morning or late at night.

Go to the departures level, find the numbered exit door, and check the bus stop sign outside. Confirm the other terminal as your destination before boarding, then follow the check-in signs after you arrive.

The airport publishes separate English guides for AIRPORT 04 from T1 toward T2 and AIRPORT 03 from T2 toward T1. Use the timetable link on the relevant page for your stop.

Should You Take the Shuttle or the Airport Railroad?

Compare the next available departure with the time needed to reach it. A train can be convenient when you are already near the station, while the free shuttle may be simpler when you are on the departures level.

OptionWhen to consider itWhat to check
Free airport shuttleYou are near the correct third-floor stopRoute direction, next departure and road conditions
Paid Airport RailroadYou can reach the station convenientlyTrain direction, departure time and displayed fare

The airport estimates the rail journey between terminals at about six minutes. That is the train ride only: walking, ticketing, waiting and reaching your airline counter add to the total transfer.

Using the Train Between Terminals

  1. Follow the Airport Railroad signs to the station.
  2. Look for the All-Stop Train and confirm that the next airport terminal is your destination.
  3. Check the current fare and buy a suitable ticket or use an accepted transportation card.
  4. Travel to the other terminal and follow the signs for departures.

The airport’s English page displays KRW 1,050, but this guide has not independently confirmed that amount against the current railway fare system. Use the station’s displayed fare before paying. The official inter-terminal transportation guide confirms that the railroad transfer is a paid service.

Confirm Airline Terminals: Asiana Moved to T2 in 2026

Asiana Airlines moved its Incheon operations from T1 to T2 effective January 14, 2026. An older guide listing Asiana at T1 can therefore send you to the wrong building.

The official Asiana relocation notice lists T2 check-in counters G–J and tells codeshare passengers to check the operating airline’s terminal. Confirm the current counter assignment for your own flight when you arrive.

For any airline, use the terminal shown for your actual flight rather than relying on a previous trip or the airline logo on your booking. A return flight does not necessarily leave from the terminal where you arrived in Korea.

Already Inside Security or Making an International Connection?

If you have already passed departure security and realize there is a terminal problem, show your boarding pass to airport or airline staff. Do not assume that you can simply return to the public area and follow the bus directions.

International connecting passengers use separate transfer procedures. Follow the green Transfer signs and the instructions for your connecting flight; do not leave through immigration just to reach a public shuttle.

For a T1-to-T2 international transfer, the airport describes a secure route involving transfer screening and shuttle trains via the Concourse. Its official T1-to-T2 transfer guide warns that passengers cannot return after certain shuttle-train movements, so verify the route before boarding.

If your connection requires baggage collection or a new check-in, explain this to the airline or transfer desk. Do not assume the secure transfer route will cover every separate-ticket itinerary.

Questions That Can Change Your Transfer Plan

Is the Free Shuttle Available All Night?

No. The published route hours in the table do not cover the entire night. Outside those hours, check whether a train is still available and ask airport staff about current ground transportation options.

Would a Taxi Be Faster?

It depends on vehicle availability, pickup time and road conditions. Ask staff where to board and confirm the destination and applicable fare; do not assume a taxi will beat a shuttle or train that is about to leave.

What If I Need Assistance Moving Between Terminals?

Ask airport staff for help arranging a suitable transfer before heading to the stop. Explain whether you use a wheelchair or need help with mobility, and allow time for assistance to be arranged.

Avoid the Same Terminal Mistake on Your Next Airport Trip

Save your confirmed terminal alongside your flight number before leaving your accommodation. Check it again on departure day and tell your driver which terminal you need.
