k.ride Cancellation Fee Refund: What to Do If the Charge Looks Wrong

Last checked: September 8, 2026. k.ride cancellation rules, refund terms, and the official support route can change, so check the current cancellation screen in the app when the exact timing or amount matters.

If a k.ride cancellation fee does not match the rule that applied to your ride, save the ride details and payment record first, then request a review through App Menu > Support. k.ride’s current terms provide for refunds in certain system-error, overpayment, and double-payment situations, although who handles the refund can depend on the transaction and whether a Partner Service was involved.

A cancellation does not automatically mean the fee was charged incorrectly. k.ride uses different rules depending on the vehicle category, whether the ride was requested immediately or reserved in advance, and the circumstances of the cancellation or no-show. For a k.ride cancellation fee refund, first compare your ride record with the rule that applied before submitting the dispute.

First, Check Whether the Cancellation Fee Looks Wrong

Start with the vehicle type and booking type shown in your k.ride ride record. The current official k.ride Details of Paid Services publish separate cancellation conditions for Standard, Deluxe, Comfort, and Luxury services in Korea.

Immediate k.ride Calls in Korea

Vehicle categoryPublished cancellation ruleBase cancellation fee
DeluxeCancellation after one minute from dispatch completion, or the stated no-contact and non-boarding conditions after the driver arrivesKRW 2,000
Standard (Blue Partners)The published conditions refer to cancellation after one minute from dispatch completion and specified no-contact or non-boarding situationsAffiliate policies apply
Comfort (Kakao T Venti)Cancellation after one minute from dispatch completion, or the stated no-contact and non-boarding conditionsKRW 4,000
Luxury (Kakao T Black)The official English table uses different wording for the dispatch-timing condition, along with stated no-contact and non-boarding conditionsKRW 5,000

Important: the official table also lists a k.ride service fee equal to a 10% surcharge on cancellation fees. The final cancellation charge may therefore be higher than the base fee alone, so compare the fee shown in the app with the final payment record.

The current English table uses “within a minute of dispatch completion” for Luxury, while Deluxe and Comfort say “after one minute.” If your dispute depends on this timing, save the cancellation screen shown in the app and ask k.ride Support which condition was applied.

Reserved Comfort and Luxury Rides

Reserved rides use a different schedule based on how close the cancellation is to the planned departure time.

Reservation situationComfortLuxury
24 to 9 hours before departure10% of fare, maximum KRW 4,00010% of fare, maximum KRW 6,000
9 to 1 hour before departure50% of fare, maximum KRW 6,00050% of fare, maximum KRW 6,000
Less than 1 hour before departure100% of fare, maximum KRW 15,000100% of fare, maximum KRW 30,000
Loss of contact and non-boarding within 5 minutes after departure time100% of fare, maximum KRW 30,000100% of fare, maximum KRW 50,000

These published amounts help you identify whether the charge needs a closer review. A review is especially important when the charged amount does not match the applicable rule, the same payment appears more than once, or the ride record suggests a system or payment error.

If the charge relates to an airport reservation, compare the booking details with our guide to booking k.ride airport pickup in Korea. For the actual cancellation decision, use the current conditions shown by k.ride and the official paid-service terms.

Save These Details Before Contacting Support

A short, specific request is easier to review than a message that only says the fee is unfair. Save enough information to identify the ride and explain why the charge appears inconsistent with the applicable rule.

  • Date and approximate time of the ride request or reservation
  • Pickup point and destination
  • Vehicle category shown in k.ride
  • Booking or ride number, if displayed
  • Screenshot of the cancellation or ride-status screen
  • Base or displayed cancellation fee
  • Final payment amount charged
  • Screenshot or record of the card or payment transaction
  • Relevant driver messages or cancellation information, if available
  • A short factual explanation of what happened

If there are two identical charges, save both transactions. If the dispute is about cancellation timing, keep anything that shows when the driver was assigned, when the cancellation occurred, and what cancellation condition the app displayed.

How to Request a k.ride Cancellation Fee Refund Review

The official k.ride website currently directs customers to App Menu > Support. Its listed customer-center hours are 9 AM to 2 AM the following day KST, Monday through Friday, excluding public holidays.

  1. Open k.ride and sign in to the account used for the ride.
  2. Open the app menu and go to Support.
  3. Choose the support option that best matches the ride, cancellation, or payment problem shown in your current app version.
  4. Identify the affected ride and state the cancellation fee and final amount charged.
  5. Explain briefly why the fee appears inconsistent with the ride record or applicable cancellation condition.
  6. Attach the relevant ride-status, cancellation, and payment screenshots when the support flow allows them.
  7. Ask for a review of the ride and payment record and a refund of any amount found to have been charged incorrectly.

The position and wording of support options can change as the app is updated. Avoid relying on an old screenshot that tells you to press a specific button that may no longer exist. The official route currently published by k.ride is App Menu > Support.

A Simple Message You Can Send

Hello. I was charged a cancellation fee for my k.ride booking on [date and time]. I believe the fee may have been applied incorrectly because [brief reason]. The cancellation fee or final charge was KRW [amount]. Could you please review the ride and payment record and refund any amount that was charged incorrectly? I have attached the relevant screenshots.

Keep the explanation factual. If you personally made the ride request and are disputing only the cancellation fee, do not describe the entire card transaction as unauthorized solely because you disagree with the fee.

What k.ride’s Refund Terms Say

Article 13 of the current k.ride Service Terms and Conditions addresses refunds. It states that if normal service use is affected by a system error, or an overpayment or double payment occurs without a reason attributable to the member, the incorrectly charged portion should be refunded.

The same article also says that a customer disputing the appropriateness of a fare or usage fee should make the request to the transacting party. For Partner Services, the partner’s individual terms and refund policy apply. This means support may sometimes direct you to another operator or explain that a partner policy governs the transaction.

When k.ride processes the refund itself, the terms state that the refund should normally use the same payment method as the original transaction. If that is not possible, another refund method may be used.

If k.ride Says the Cancellation Fee Was Valid

If support rejects the request, compare the explanation with your ride record rather than arguing only that the trip never took place. Ask which vehicle category, cancellation condition, dispatch or reservation time, and fee were used to determine the charge.

This is particularly important for reserved rides because the published fee changes as the scheduled departure gets closer. Standard rides can also involve an affiliate’s policy rather than one universal fixed cancellation amount.

If the issue is actually a dispute over a completed taxi fare rather than an app cancellation fee, the complaint process can be different. Our guide to reporting a taxi fare problem in Korea explains what evidence to keep and which complaint channels may be relevant.

If you still believe a finalized card charge is incorrect after contacting the service, you can ask your card issuer what dispute options are available. Card-dispute procedures vary by issuer, so describe the issue accurately as a disputed cancellation fee if you authorized the original booking and keep the k.ride support record.

FAQ

What if the driver canceled but I still received a cancellation fee?

Request a review through k.ride Support and provide the ride-status record showing what happened. The public terms provide for refunds in certain incorrectly charged or system-related situations, but they do not state that every case involving a driver cancellation automatically results in a refund. The ride record needs to be checked against the rule applied to that booking.

Why is my card charge higher than the listed KRW 2,000 or KRW 4,000 fee?

The current paid-service table also lists a 10% k.ride service-fee surcharge on cancellation fees. Compare the cancellation screen and final payment record before assuming that the difference is an error.

How long does a k.ride cancellation fee refund take?

The public k.ride terms checked for this guide do not provide one universal refund-completion time. Keep the support record and monitor the payment method used for the original transaction rather than relying on an unofficial estimate.

The most important step is to separate a valid cancellation fee from a charge that does not match the applicable rule. Check the vehicle and booking type, save the cancellation and payment records, and use App Menu > Support to request a review of the specific transaction.
